SUPPORT THE RIGHT TO KEEP
AND BEAR ARMS
Imagine a revolutionary political organization created to unseat the biggest gun
control advocates in the Michigan State Legislature, Judiciary or other office
Imagine these elected
officials knowing they've been targeted and the media knowing it, too.
Imagine the gun-rights movement truly going on the
offensive
This is the political effectiveness Brass Roots offers the residents of Michigan.
Politicians don't like scrutiny, and they don't like organized opposition.
Brass Roots will bring them both. With a vengeance.

Mission Statement:
Brass Roots is a non-partisan organization dedicated to the political defeat
of elected officials who offer or support any rule, legislation, or judgment
that denies the people of Michigan the exercise of their inalienable right
to Keep and Bear Arms.
Brass Roots does not support "Any Political Party, or Endorse Any
Candidate."
Elected officials are selected and targeted for defeat, based solely upon
their actions, not their claims or promises. Targets are selected from
elected officials who have demonstrated their anti-gun positions by their
votes or actions. Pro-gun candidates, however, are always welcome to attend
our public meetings and state their positions to our membership. Legislators
and candidates are also encouraged to utilize Brass Roots as a source for
self-defense and pro-gun information.
Founded in 1995:
Brass Roots has been identified by the Detroit Free Press as " Michigan's
most aggressive pro-gun organization." As stated above, Brass Roots mission
is to defeat elected officials who oppose the right to Keep and Bear Arms.
Brass Roots accomplishes their mission by collecting a commitment of a
pledged amount of money from their membership. These pledges are then
targeted for the defeat of the elected officials selected by Brass Roots,
based upon that official's anti-gun voting record or sponsored legislation.
Brass Roots pledge members are then notified of the selected target, and
then send their amount directly to the campaign fund of the opponent of the
official targeted for defeat. The Pledged monies are never sent to Brass
Roots, although the organization tracks the amounts pledged.
The Brass Roots Plaque:
In 1994, more than 10,000 people attended the first "Brass Roots Rally" on
the steps of the Capitol building in Lansing. Capitol officials declared it
was the largest rally held at the Capitol in 20 years, as well as the most
orderly. Attendees brought with them an empty shell from a gun that they "
Vow Never to Surrender."
More than 18,000 shells were collected that day, weighing more than 800
pounds. The shells were taken by the Brass Roots organization, melted down,
and cast into the Brass Roots Plaque. The Plaque measures 4'x6' and weighs
480 pounds. It is inscribed with the Second Amendment to the United States
Constitution and Article I Section Six of the Michigan Constitution, both of
which guarantee protection of the inalienable right of the people to Keep
and Bear Arms.
The plaque was presented to the Michigan legislature the following year, and
a joint resolution requesting that the Plaque be permanently displayed at
the Capitol was drafted. To date, the legislature has declined to take up
the resolution.
Thus the Plaque remains with the Brass Roots organization, pending permanent
placement at the Capitol. It travels across the state with Brass Roots, for
display at gun shows, conservation and shooting clubs, and other
organizations. |
